First Year Experience
The first year a student spends in Higher Education is an important time of transition and one we would all wish to support. The purpose of this good practice guide is to bring together current research and resources to enable practitioners to consider what they currently do to encourage the engagement, success and retention of their first year students and how they might develop their practice in this area. Whilst most of what is contained in these webpages relates specifically to students studying at level 1 the information and guidance is also relevant to students who enter university at a more advanced level, for instance a student entering at level 2 from a further education college. The hope is that the information will also be useful to those supporting postgraduate students.
The pages are organised under a number of headings as seen on the right hand side of the screen.
We hope that you find the information contained in these pages useful and we would encourage you to let us know of any information/resources you've come across for inclusion here. Please send contributions, comments or suggestions to Jane MacKenzie.
