Server certificate service
Description of services
The University can aquire certificates from Comodo Security services via UKERNA free of charge. These certificates will be trusted by browsers without the need to install the University root certificate. This will benefit any external facing services (as well as internal) which require a certificate to operate, excluding commercial transactions.
Availability
24x7x52 subject to occasional maintenance downtime.
Service adoption enquiries
To obtain a certificate you must create a Certificate Signing Request* on your server and send it to scs@gla.ac.uk.

Further information
*When creating a Certificate Signing Request you must use the following values:
Country Code : GB
State : Scotland
Locality : Glasgow
Organisation : University of Glasgow
Organisational Unit : Enter your Faculty/Department
Common Name : Must match the host name part of the URL that is typed into the browser (e.g. www.dept.gla.ac.uk)
All others leave blank i.e. Email.
We also need to know what type of system the certificate is for i.e. IIS5, Apache-modSSL, etc.
