Responsibilities of a web publisher
A member of the University making information avaliable to the public or staff via a University of Glasgow Web server is known as an Information Provider or Web Publisher. All Web Publisher's have a responsibility for the published data as follows:
- Read and adhere to the JANET Acceptable Use Policy, the Regulations and Code of Conduct paper and our Legal Requirements documents. No member of the University should endanger the good name or reputation of the University..
- Follow the University web file naming conventions
- Ensure information is up to date and accurate. If you do not have time to update pages, remove them from the server rather than provide inaccurate information.
- Act promptly to rectify errors when notified.
- Do not duplicate information that is published elsewhere in the University.
- Check spelling and grammar.
- Delete old files which may still be referenced from Internet search engines.
Web Publisher's should also see the on-line support section of the Guide to Web Publishing, which combines useful local information with links to good external resources and tutorials.
