How can I tell which version of Windows I have?
At a command prompt type "winver" to display system version info. To use WSUS you must have:

• Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
• Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3

I have Windows 2000 or XP but don't have the correct service pack.
You can obtain the latest service pack from the windows update website.

I don't have Windows 2000 or XP - how can I patch my PC?
Systems running earlier versions of Windows can not make use of the WSUS service, but can still obtain updates manually from the windows update website.
