Mobile device advice

IT Services advises that smart phone and tablet devices (iPad, Android etc) currently provide limited business application support when used within the University's IT environment, with the following exceptions;
- Access to Exchange 2007 email
- Web browsing and common web applications (manufacturer restrictions may apply)
Currently we provide instructions on how to connect tablet and other mobile devices to Exchange email, VPN and Eduroam where it is supported by the device.
Please note that the majority of these devices are very limited in their ability to create or modify content in the formats used by the University. eg Word, Excel, PowerPoint, pdf.
We are aware of the 'potential' such devices have in the workplace and are investigating several options to improve the range of services that can be accessed reliably from them.
