Description of services
IT Services provides a general purpose Compute Cluster as a resource for researchers within the University.
Availability
24x7x52 subject to occasional maintenance downtime.
Service adoption enquiries
You should complete the registration form and return it to the Admin Front Desk, IT Services, James Watt North.

Who can use the cluster
The cluster is available for use by members of staff within the University to support their research. Postgraduate Students may also get an account if they have authorisation from their Head of College/School or Supervisor.
What the cluster consists of
The Cluster runs Torque & Maui (see www.clusterresources.com) on Centos Linux 5.3. There are 34 execution nodes available each with dual Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2384’s and up to 32GB RAM per node.
Software available
In addition to the standard linux components (eg the GNU compilers - gcc, g++ g77 etc) we have installed MPI libraries (mpich2, mpiexec) and the sun compiler suite.
