On Campus access (wireless)
Requirements
To access the internet and protected campus resources you need to:
- connect to the "flexaccess" wireless network
- install the VPN software
- on first use of the VPN software enter gucsasa1.cent.gla.ac.uk in the Connect to box.
- adjust your browser proxy settings
This is to allow you to browse securely.
Connection
The campus wireless network is broadcast as "flexaccess". Your laptop (or wireless enabled device) should pick it up automatically. More than one wireless network may be available.
- select "flexaccess" to connect.
Check you are connected to it by opening your web browser and going to www.gla.ac.uk
Install VPN and configure your browser.
Please follow all the steps:
- Download and install the VPN software. Note: the first time you use the software enter gucsasa1.cent.gla.ac.uk in the Connect to box.
- Adjust browser proxy settings
- Open Internet Explorer*. From the Tools menu select Internet Options. On the Connections tab choose LAN Settings.
- Check the box marked Automatic detect settings.
- Connect to VPN using your
GUID and password
Make sure you are connected to flexaccess, then open the VPN Client (Start->Programs->Cisco Systems VPN Client), which you have just installed.
Click Campus_use (if its not already selected), then click Connect. Enter your GUID and password when prompted.

* The instructions assume you are running Windows and using Internet Explorer. If you are using another browser or operating system go to http://www.gla.ac.uk/it/flexiblenetworkaccess/wirelessproxy for instructions on how to configure your browser.
