The Department of Educational Studies continues to raise its profile on international educational issues that will be crucial to the success of knowledge-based societies in the twenty-first century, and the department aims to become an international centre of learning. Educational Studies staff work closely with a range of organisations in Glasgow, across Scotland and internationally. The department has a robust and expanding research portfolio with particular expertise in educational leadership and management; transformational change; and policy studies in education; professional learning; science, engineering and technology education; assessment; early childhood education; inclusion and access; gender and ethnicity.

The Department of Educational Studies offers courses based on our research strengths leading to higher degrees in all aspects of professional practice. To respond to the professional and personal requirements of practitioners at all levels, part-time and distance learning courses have been added to the portfolio of full-time courses delivered. The Department has many postgraduate taught and research students from the UK and many overseas countries, offering students the benefits of teaching based on the most up to date research.
