Binding: France, 18th-century red morocco decorated with triple gold fillets, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves (large random splashes of blue visible beneath the gilt);  turquoise silk bookmark;  remains of tabs visible.   Size:  478 x 330 mm.
Leaf size: 463 x 322 mm.
Annotations: Marginal annotations, pointing hands and “nota” marks in a 15th/16th-century hand in gatherings 6, 7, 24, 25. Very occasional evidence of early signatures.
Decoration: Woodcut initial “P” on 1/2r coloured by hand;  woodcut initial “O” together with woodcut border on 1/9r both coloured by hand.
Imperfections: None.
