Researcher Development Committee

The Researcher Development Framework (RDF) was developed nationally in 2009, after consultation with universities, students, funders and employers.  This framework sets out the knowledge, skills and experience required at each stage of an academic career, from when you start as a new PhD student to becoming an eminent professor.

In 2010, the Researcher Development Committee reviewed the training opportunities offered across the university, mapping them against the RDF.  The committee is now focusing its efforts on filling any gaps in provision and considering how we can best support researchers to move from one career stage to the next.  If you would like to get involved in this work, please contact Elizabeth Adams.

Vitae have also produced a useful online tool to allow researchers to identify the areas in the framework they want to develop further, create an action plan and record evidence of their progress.
