Information about Glasgow
As the largest city in Scotland and an increasingly popular tourist destination, Glasgow offers a diverse, cosmopolitan experience for residents and visitors. This experience has been formally recognised over the past several years by designations such as UK City of Architecture and Design, and European City of Culture. The shopping and nightlife is unparalleled in the UK outside of London.
The city is currently undergoing a physical transformation, with a new world class waterfront district emerging to complement the vibrant city centre. In addition, Glasgow will also host the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
The University is in the West End of the City, characterised by its red and gold sandstone Victorian buildings and dominated by the impressive University of Glasgow campus. The West End is also home to the massive and recently refurbished Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, cinemas, pubs, restaurants, and countless parks. The city centre is only a short walk, underground ride, or bus ride away.
Settling in socially
The University has a wide range of Clubs which staff and students can join as long as they are a member of Sport & Recreation.
The University also offers a range of induction events for staff with an opportunity to meet others including the New Staff Induction Events.

These properties are intended primarily for registered students who will be accompanied by a partner and/or children whilst studying at the University.
