Stevenson Extension and GUU Refurbishment
The University is currently delivering a project which involves the demolition of the GUU Extension (formerly occupied by the Hive nightclub) to be replaced with a new building. The proposed new building consists of an extension to the Stevenson Sports Centre in addition to some refurbishment proposals for replacement student facilities within the Glasgow University Union.
The estates Project Team includes John Stevenson, Mary Beaton and Jennifer Russell who are working closely with colleagues in Sports and Recreation and the GUU to deliver the proposals.
Planning Consent and Conservation Area Consent have been granted from Glasgow City Council. ECD Architects, in conjunction with Page\Park Architects, have been appointed as lead consultants on the project.
The first stage of the works will see the demolition of the Hive which will take approximately nine weeks. The demolition works are expected to be completed by the end of the summer 2013. The demolition contractor will seek to keep any disruption to a minimum but we apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused during this time.
