Building Surveying

The Building Surveying Team works alongside the specialist maintenance teams,  the direct labour organisation and the project services team to ensure they provide a comprehensive, high quality, value-for-money and customer-focused building maintenance service.

Core Activities

• Management of the University's Asbestos register in accordance with the Management of Asbestos Regulations 2006.
• Building Condition Surveys - providing building condition data for submission to the Estates Management Statistics and the University's Estates Strategy.  The University's report on backlog maintenance is also derived from this comprehensive survey information.  It is useful in respect of long-term maintenance planning to ensure funds are directed to the most pressing matters and it also helps us to co-ordinate items of maintenance where essential maintenance works can be combined with refurbishment and alteration programmes.
