Building Fabric
Building Fabric carries out over 10000 building fabric repairs each year using our own workforce and approved specialist contractors. We maintain and repair the structure of the University's buildings and grounds to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the University community, provide facilities fit for purpose which are available to meet business requirements and to preserve the value and heritage of the University's building stock.
Core Activities
- Diagnosis of building fabric faults and management of remedial works.
- General building work and structural alterations to internal and external building fabric.
- Painting and decoration of interior and exterior painted surfaces
- Carpentry and Joinery, Glazing and Locksmith services including:
- Installation, maintenance and repair of building fabric components including doors, windows, locks, shelving, furniture, partitions, ceilings, flooring
- Installation and repair of glazing components in windows, doors, bookcases etc.
- Boarding-up as a result of a security or adverse weather incidents
- Installation and adjustment of door closers
- Replacement or adjustment of loose or missing ceiling tiles
- Key cutting
- Pest control
- Plastering works and repairs
- Plumbing works including maintenance, repair and operation of water, drainage and sewerage infrastructure and building systems
- Roof installations and repairs
- Slating
- Installation, maintenance and repair of roof gulleys and guttering systems
