A better way to work

The University of Glasgow takes part in the "A Better Way to Work" project, hosted by the Bike Station, Glasgow's cycling charity. "A better way to work" aims to help Glasgow based organisations and their employees find more efficient ways of commuting and travelling for business - helping to reduce costs and encourage a healthier and happier workforce.

Travel Surgery

Our first event within the project will be a Travel Surgery, on the 29th August, from 12 - 2 pm.

These short one-to-one discussions with a travel expert about how you get to work are an easy way to find out about alternative ways of commuting. They’re great if you’ve been thinking about making a change to how you travel so that you can save money, save time and improve your health.

There will be a great range of services on offer, including:

  • personalised travel planning advice;
  • incentives to try Glasgow's public transport network;
  • cycling maps and computers;
  • annual membership to the City Car Club;
  • pedometers;
  • one-to-one cycle training;
  • two week loans of good quality bikes.

To book your slot for your very own travel consultation, please email travelplanning@glasgow.ac.uk or phone extension -3106. The travel surgery will take part in the Estates and Buildings Office, on the Gilmorehill campus (University Avenue).

At the same date and time a Dr Bike session will be held on the campus. Dr Bike is a mobile mechanic who will service bicycles brought in on the day, totally free of charge.

  • Date: 29th August 2012
  • Time: 12 noon till 2 pm
