UNIVERSITY of GLASGOW

Estates and Buildings

Consultants Framework

In partnership with Financial Services Procurement Group, the Estates and Buildings team of Steve Sutton, Mary Beaton, Jack Cairns, Martin Munro, together with Consultant Grant Stevenson, has developed a bespoke Consultants Framework to manage the appointment of professional consultant services.

The University received over 160 expressions of interest for services across disciplines including Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Mechanical and Electrical, Civil and Structural, Building Surveying and CDM Co-ordinator. The 22 companies available for engagement are shown below and will be appointed on a rotational basis.  The Framework, which commenced in January 2010, is for 2 years with an option to extend for a further 1 + 1 at the University's discretion.

The Framework will provide transparency and efficiency in the appointment of consultants, delivering value for money over a sustained period due to the fixed price offered by the consultants during the open competitive tender exercise. The Framework's introduction in Estates and Buildings aligns the University's Estates procurement operation with best practice in the Higher Education and Public Sector and satisfies guidance from Scottish Funding Council and Procurement Scotland.

A presentation on the process was given to the SAUDE Spring Conference 2010, a copy of which can be access using the link below:
