Sexual orientation
The University of Glasgow values all its students, staff and visitors equally, regardless of their sexual orientation. We aim to create a work, learning, teaching and research environment in which all staff and students, whatever their sexuality, feel equally welcome and valued, and in which discriminatory behaviour is not tolerated.
To support this aim the University has appointed a senior manager as the Sexual Orientation Equality Champion, currently David Newall (Secretary of Court). Our Sexual Orientation Equality Champion promotes and raises awareness around sexual orientation equality issues, and feeds back to the Equality and Diversity Strategy Committee, the Principal and other senior managers.
The University welcomes the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003 and the opportunity this offers the University to ensure our employment practices are equal and fair. These regulations include protections for heterosexual people.
