Cultural & Religious Diversity in the City
The aim of this guide is to provide some information that would enable you to find a place of worship appropriate/ suitable to your needs.
Glasgow is a multi-racial and multi-cultural city supporting a diverse range of religions and communities. The city boasts various cultural centres and worship facilities that cater for most social and spiritual needs, including some notable landmarks such as a Church of Scotland and Roman Catholic Cathedrals, Hindu and Sikh temples, Synagogues, the Greek Orthodox Church and Mosques.
If you are a member of a faith group and would like to attend or simply find more information about facilities and support networks, please contact the appropriate place listed in this guide.
You may visit, write or telephone. If you are planning a visit, it is probably best to telephone first to check that someone is available to meet you. However, it should be noted that some places such as the mosque are open during the daytime and require no prior contact.
At the University
At the University student societies exist to provide support to people of faith. These include the Catholic society, Christian Union, Islamic society and Jewish students’ society. A full list of the faith societies and their contact details are available on the Student Representative Council website.
Where no specific society exists to meet the particular spiritual needs of students, the Student Representative Council invites students to form their own society.
