European Economic Area and the DPA

The Principle 8 of the DPA forbids the transmission of personal data to a country or territory outwith the European Economic Area unless certain conditions are met. The EEA consists of the 25 states of the European Community plus Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein.

The states of the European Community are Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
