Information for disabled staff
The Disability Service for Staff has been operational since mid 2009 and was officially launched on 27 May 2010.
The Staff Service is similar that offered to students, whereby after provision of professional evidence of a disability or chronic health condition from a member of staff, a referral for an assessment of needs will be made with a Disability Adviser, with a follow up evaluation session with an IT adviser on campus or ergonomic specialist at the work station, as appropriate. The Disability Service has a budget to fund recommended support strategies and the service works with Human Resources and Access to Work to apply for additional funding, as necessary.
In the first instance disabled staff who either have developed a disability or who require a review of their needs should refer themselves to Human Resources Occupational Health Service. Onward referrals to the Disability Service for a Needs Assessment will then be made by Occupational Health, at their discretion.A condition must be chronic and long term, or likely to be long term, to fit within the remit of our service.
