Greens Health & Fitness, Finnieston
The Ferguson Bequest has secured membership with Greens Health & Fitness in Finnieston, which is only a short 10 minute drive from campus. The membership includes 16 membership fobs allowing access to facilities including the gym, pool & sauna and fitness classes.
Bookings are made via the Court Office and staff can book use of the gym for themselves and a guest, up to one week in advance, as per the Ferguson Bequest rules. The membership fobs are collected from the gym reception desk where you must sign in and submit your Staff ID card, which you will then collect again when you return the fob/s on your way out.
You must ensure that you return the fob before leaving the premises. The fobs are used to gain access to the gym, for accessing the lockers and can be worn in the swimming pool. Loss of a membership fob will result in a replacement fee of £30.
If you like to work out then Greens Health & Fitness have fully equipped cardio and weights rooms along with a private mini-gym. They have recently invested a whopping £3million across their clubs in state-of-the-art virtual active gym kit. Maybe you'll want to soak away your stresses in the gorgeous 25m pool complete with sauna, steam room and poolside whirlpool spa. They have 75+ classes each week including Zumba, Yoga/Pilates, Spinning and BTS classes (class information can be found using this link to Greens Classes ). You'll also find a laid-back Costa Coffee brasserie with free Wi-Fi access.
Parklands Country Club, Newton Mearns
Parklands Country Club provides gym and leisure facilities, in a relaxed, country club atmosphere, on the south-side of the city. Staff will have access to all social and sports facilities, including sports hall activities. Available are: gymnasium; aerobic studio; swimming pool and spa (including hydropool, biosauna and tepidarium); snooker room; squash and table tennis. Presentation of the membership card will also entitle you to a 10% discount on all food and beverages, available from Michael’s (stylish bar & bistro). The club is easily accessible, just off the M77 and is within a 15/20 minute drive of the main University campus. The University has six membership cards which may be booked up to one week in advance for a day and allocation will be limited to two tickets per person (one card for member of staff and one for partner/family/friend). Additional cards, if available, may be booked on the day of use (after 3pm).
Glasgow Science Centre, 50 Pacific Quay
Corporate membership of the Glasgow Science Centre has been renewed having proved very popular with University staff in the past. The Science Centre is situated on the south bank of the River Clyde opposite the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and consists of three stunning landmark structures:
The Science Mall - the main exhibits building.
The Glasgow Tower - This has a viewing cabin 104 metres high offering views of Glasgow and the Firth of Clyde and The IMAX Theatre - Scotland's first 2D/3D cinema.
Staff members will be able to book a maximum of four vouchers for a day's visit to the GSC, offering free access to the Science Mall only (under 3yrs old get in free).

Users of the Science Centre membership vouchers will no longer be required to wait in the queue during busy periods. If you are visiting the Science Mall please go to the Members/Information Desk adjacent to the ticket desks with your membership voucher/s ready. Your visit will then be recorded quickly enabling you to continue onto the Science Mall avoiding the lengthy queues.
Bookings will be limited to one booking per person per calendar year and normal Ferguson Bequest booking procedures and rules/regulations apply. Staff should note that they may be asked to produce a staff card as identification on entry to the Science Centre.

Our Dynamic Earth
An exciting new attraction to the Ferguson Bequest is Our Dynamic Earth. Based in Edinburgh Our Dynamic Earth takes you on a journey through our planet’s past, present and future, with interactive exhibits and impressive technology, including a 4D and 3D experience. Beginning with the Big Bang, children and adults alike can witness the creation of the Earth, follow the planet through its evolution and even catch glimpses of its future. From dry tundra to the bottom of the ocean, a journey through Dynamic Earth is exciting, fun and engaging. Whether coming face to face with an extinct dinosaur, feeling the sticky heat of a tropical rainforest or flying over glaciers in prehistoric Scotland, Dynamic Earth presents all aspects of the planet we live in. Population growth, concepts of time and the realities of climate change are just the tip of the iceberg – and we even have a real one of those too, sitting beneath the magical Aurora Borealis!
There are two Corporate Membership cards available and staff can book one card for a day's use. Each card allows access for two adults & up to four children and can be used to gain a 20% discount in the cafe and a 15% discount in the gift shop.
The card should be collected on the day of use and must be returned before 9.30am the following day.
Please note that staff ID is required for access. Normal Ferguson Bequest rules apply.

A guide is available at the Court Office Reception Desk but must be returned with the cards.
Kelburn Castle & Country Centre
Another wonderful new attraction to the Ferguson Bequest for this season is Kelburn Castle & Country Centre. Set in the beautiful west coast of Scotland, Kelburn has long been an inspiration for adults and a paradise for children. Still lived in by the present Earl and his family, Kelburn Castle, dating back to the 13th Century, provides an impressive background to exotic gardens, two of Scotland's 100 Heritage trees and many features of natural and historical interest. There is so much to do and see including the unique mural, the Graffiti Project, relaxing in the courtyard of the old home farm or visiting the New Zealand museum. Younger children can play in the adventure playground and indoor Playbarn. There is also Scotland's most unusual attraction The Secret Forest.
The Country Centre is open from 10am until 6pm from the start of April until the end of October. During the rest of the year only the grounds and riding school are open from 11am until dusk.
Staff may book one card for a day's use which must be collected on the day and returned before 9.30am the following day. This card allows access for two adults and up to three children.

Deep Sea World, North Queensferry
A thrilling journey of discovery awaits you when you visit Deep Sea World. The University holds corporate membership with what is known as Scotland’s National Aquarium. Staff are permitted to book a maximum of two adult passes for a day visit. Allocation will be limited to one booking per person per calendar year and normal Ferguson Bequest rules apply.
A truly unique and entertaining venue for any special event, from corporate entertainment, to children’s parties. Facilities are available at a discounted rate, please ask for more details.
Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh
Staff will be permitted to book a maximum of two tickets. Each ticket allows one adult entry to the Zoo. Alternatively, each half ticket admits one child. These tickets can be booked following the usual booking procedure. All bookings should be made by contacting the Court Office on 330 6441 or extension 6441. Due to the high demand for tickets staff will only be permitted to make one booking per calendar year.
Amazonia, Strathclyde Country Park
The Ferguson Bequest have membership at Amazonia – Scotland’s largest indoor tropical rainforest that offers a fun and educational experience for all ages. It is a unique place to learn and explore and gain an insight into life in a tropical forest.
Staff will be able to book a maximum of four tickets for a day visit to Amazonia (under 3yrs old go free). Visitors to the attraction are also given the opportunity to take part in animal handling sessions (additional £1 fee).
Allocation will be limited to one booking per calendar year and normal Ferguson Bequest booking procedures and rules/regulations apply.
Blair Drummond Safari Park
This Safari and Adventure Park offers you the chance of a great family day out. Attractions include a drive-through wild animal reserve; Pets Farm; Sea-lion show; Pirate Ship; Wooden Castle; Barbeque & Picnic area, plus the opportunity to see the only elephants in Scotland. Staff will be allowed to book two adult tickets, which will entitle them to free entry to the park. Some of the attractions will incur a separate charge i.e. pedal boats. Please note that these tickets cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers, discounts or vouchers.
All bookings should be made by contacting the Court Office on 330 6441 or extension 6441, following the usual booking procedure. Due to the high demand for tickets staff will only be permitted to one booking for the period of membership up until October 2012. As this is a seasonal attraction bookings will only be taken up until 28 October 2012.
The Falkirk Wheel
There is no other place in the world like The Falkirk Wheel. In fact, it's the only rotating boat lift in the universe! Apart from seeing this giant in action, there's loads more that will make your day out at The Falkirk Wheel different. For a start, it's where the Union Canal meets the Forth & Clyde Canal and with canal locks, walks and boats, you can experience nature and history set against a stunning backdrop. Apart from the Boat Trip there is an Interactive Exhibition, a Kids Trail, Play Park & Picnic Area and Canal Walks & Cycle Paths. Everything for a great day out! Staff are entitled to book two adult passes, one for themselves and one for partner/family/friend but will be limited to one booking per calendar year.
