COPYRIGHT MATTERS

INTRODUCTION

This Web site provides a basic introduction to some of the issues concerning copyright and intellectual property, which you may need to be aware of in your day-to-day work as academics, students, researchers and support staff. It is by no means comprehensive, but should serve as a starting point for this increasingly complex area. It is important that you read our disclaimer before using this website.

The aim is to provide a number of key pieces of advice and information regarding the licences held by the University, explaining what you can and can't do within their terms, and to point you in the right direction for more detailed advice if necessary, both through contacts within the University and through links to useful sites which will appear at appropriate stages in the text.

The site is split into two main areas:

They are in effect two sides of the same coin, but it may be useful to be able to follow each of these strands separately. These sections follow on from the Basic Issues page, which we would like you to read through before using this site for the first time.

If you have any questions regarding copyright, or would like to make any suggestions about this Web site, please click on the 'Enquiries' button on the top menu bar of this page. We will try to respond to you as soon as possible.

We also have an internal email list 'copyright@gla.ac.uk' for those of you with a more extensive interest in copyright issues relating to your daily work or studies. Please contact Helen Durndell if you would like to join this discussion
