Art in Hospital Exhibition - Matthew Brady - Thursday 2 February - Friday 17 February
Matthew Brady is a regular participant in the Art in Hospital project at Greenfield Park Care Centre. Matthew is a resident of another care home and is able to take part in the art sessions at Greenfield Park through the Hospital and Community project.
Despite health issues and no previous experience of drawing and painting, Matthew has an amazing amount of creative energy and his work is very assured. He is hugely prolific and works with a variety of subject matter, materials and techniques in a way that is intuitive, experimental and very much focused on process.
Matthew exhibited alongside other Art in Hospital participants in a previous exhibition at the University Memorial Chapel earlier this year. He was inspired by the building and has since returned with Art in Hospital artists to draw and paint in situ. The exhibition will showcase the drawings and paintings inspired by the chapel itself as well as other architecturally inspired works.
The Hospital and Community Project is in addition to Art in Hospital’s programme of work in hospitals and care homes. Funded by Glasgow Life, formerly Culture and Sport, this project enables participants who have moved home or to a care home to continue their involvement in the Art in Hospital programme.
The Hospital and Community project also allows hospital patients and care home residents to visit museums and galleries where they are encouraged to make work in response to the collections.
