IT access and support for tutors
There are four computers in the Tutors' Base (Room N307). All the computers are networked and linked to the main server. Each of the computers is running a University standard staff desktop build (SSD7) with Windows 7 operating system and application programs including Office 2007 Professional, Internet Explorer web-browser, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Sophos Anti-virus software.
Tutors will be required to register as SSD7 users and obtain a GUID login and password from IT Services and must complete a registration form for this purpose. The registration form can be obtained at the following link http://www.gla.ac.uk/services/it/forstaff/guid/. Tutors can also use the various computer labs and clusters located around the St. Andrew's Building and the University Campus.
The IT Help Desk is the first point of contact for IT support and can be contacted on 0141 330 4800 or at http://www.gla.ac.uk/colleges/socialsciences/info/staff/itsupport/. Please contact the IT Help Desk if you experience IT related problems such as logging-in, accessing e-mail and reporting computing hardware faults.
Replacement printer cartridges can be obtained from Andrea Carr MacDonald in Room N403B or by emailing andrea.carr-macdonald@glasgow.ac.uk.
Once you have registered, if you would like to be included on an emailing list for occasional ad hoc reminders and information from the Centre for Open Studies, please let Kenneth Milligan know by telephoning 0141 330 1817 or emailing kenneth.milligan@glasgow.ac.uk.
Please note that Computing Service runs computing courses for University staff.
