All of our appointments are impartial, confidential and focussed on your individual needs – see below for details and book via Glasgow Careers.

Interviews are held in Interview Pods on Level 2 of the Fraser Building.

If you are an online learner, based overseas or unable to come to campus, then we are able to offer Short Careers Interviews via Skype. If you want to use this option, you must request this, and give us your Skype Name, in the "Reason for Appointment" section when making your booking.

Glasgow International College and Centre for Open Studies Students

We are unable to offer appointments to you. GIC Students, please contact your Student Services. Students from the Centre for Open Studies should contact your Guidance Adviser.

Demand for appointments is very high. If you can no longer attend your appointment, you must cancel online immediately to enable another student to take your place. Failure to cancel will require your future appointments to be made ‘in person’ rather than online.

CV & Application Checking

15 minute slots, Monday to Friday, 1200 – 1400.
  • Great for CV and application form checks
  • Please bring a printed copy of your CV or Applications as there is not time to access electronic versions
  • Only available for same-day booking on a first come first served basis
  • Booking starts at 0900

Please note:

  • CV & Application Checking fills up very quickly at busy times of the year (particularly September to December). If all the appointments are booked, please try again the next day. We appreciate your patience!
  • Due to the fact that these interviews are only 15 minutes long, we cannot offer CV & Application Checking via Skype.
  • We cannot provide a spell checking or proof reading service, but we will help you to make your CV or Application more effective at demonstrating your suitability for a job. For help to ensure your spelling, punctuation and grammar are of a high standard, you may want to access a proof reading service.

Career Coaching

20 minute slots, Monday to Friday
  • Great for an initial discussion about your career plans or more detailed help with CVs and application forms.
  • Book in advance for a time that suits you.
  • Unfortunately many students are failing to attend appointments, particularly if these have been booked some weeks ago.  Appointments can be booked up to 21 days in advance. The deadline moves forward on a daily basis. If all appointments in the next three weeks are full, then future slots will become available tomorrow at 09:00. Please try to book early, before these are full, to avoid disappointment.
  • Remember you can also book a lunch-time CV Checking appointment each day at 09:00.
  • If you find you can no longer attend an appointment, please cancel online immediately, so that someone else can take your place.

Mock Interviews

40 minute slots, Monday to Friday

Arranged with your Careers Manager following Career Coaching or CV Checking Appointment or by visiting the Student Services Enquiry Team on Level 2 of the Fraser Building (not bookable online).

If you have applied for a job, internship, graduate vacancy or postgraduate study, and hope to have an interview in the near future, then we can offer a Mock Interview.

  • Prepare for the real thing in a realistic interview scenario
  • Get feedback on your answers to help you to perform when it matters most
  • Once you have booked your time, you must submit a relevant job description/course description and your CV/application form at least three working days in advance to: careers@glasgow.ac.uk

We cannot guarantee that your Mock Interview will take place as soon as you would like as demand for appointments is heavy. We appreciate your patience.


Consultations for Research Students and Staff

40 minute slots, Monday to Friday

A dedicated advisory service for postgraduate research students and research staff.

The Careers Service employs a Careers Manager, Katrina Gardner, to provide career development support for Research Students and Early Career Researchers (research assistants and associates, post-docs and research fellows).


Consultations for Taught Postgraduate Students in the Adam Smith Business School

20 minute slots at specific times, Monday – Friday.

A dedicated advisory service for taught postgraduate students in the Adam Smith Business School.

The Adam Smith Business School employs a dedicated Careers Manager to provide career development support for ASBS students, and in particular, those studying at postgraduate Masters level. Follow up appointments and mock interviews are also available and can be referred to where appropriate following an initial short consultation.
