The panellists
Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) - Sarah Secombes, Regional Fundraising Manager
Sarah studied Maths and Psychology as a joint degree at the University of St Andrews where she spent three years as part of the Student Charities Campaign. After graduating she moved back to Aberdeen and began working for CHAS in the fundraising office, initially as the Fundraising Administration Assistant, and then as the Fundraiser. Sarah then took on the role of Regional Fundraising Manager in Kinross last year.
Muscular Dystrophy - Gary Kernahan, Head of Volunteer Fundraising
Gary is responsible for growing the department’s income, levels of support and supporter services. He has responsibility for a department of 14 geographical disperse staff spread across the UK and a network of thousands of volunteers and supporters. He has developed volunteer fundraising in a variety of roles with Cancer Research UK, the National Autistic Society and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. In addition Gary is a member of the Institute of Fundraising’s Scottish Executive Committee and is the Chair of the Professional Development Committee.
Shelter - Sharon Berrie, Services Team Leader – Glasgow Advice Hub
Sharon has over 10 years experience working in the Third Sector. Sharon has been in her current post with Shelter Scotland for 6 months as the Team Leader for the services based out of the Glasgow Advice Hub. Previous to this role Sharon worked for Turning Point Scotland for over 9 years, holding various roles within the organisation from support worker to service manager, including being involved in the setting up and management of TPS’s radical Housing First pilot service.
