11.30am - NHS Management Programme....and Beyond

Craig Broadfoot, a current member of the NHS Scotland management training scheme, will deliver an insight into the programme and what its really like from a recent graduate perspective.  Craig will be joined by Colin Briggs, Service Manager, Childrens Services & Clinical Neuroscience at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children who completed the NHS England's Management Training Scheme and and now manages a £55m budget and 1,500 staff. 

12.30pm - HMGCC - Opportunities in Software

An overview of Her Majesty's Government Communication Centre and the exciting graduate software opportunities currently available

2.00pm - Financial Services: Focus on Investments - Vacancies on the Rise

Representatives from some of the best known companies in the financial services sector in Scotland will talk about the growing number of opportunities and offer tips on applying successfully.

This interactive event will be chaired by Alan Thornborrow, Chief Executive, Scottish Investment Operations, who will be joined by representatives from companies including Barclays Wealth and BlackRock

4.00pm - Q&A: Media Expert Panel Session

This exciting event is a chance for students to voice their questions about working in media to a panel of professionals in a Q&A session. If you have ever even considered working in Media – these industry professionals will give you the lowdown. Do not miss the chance to impress these people!!

  • Vic Galloway: Presents 2 weekly Radio shows for the BBC on Radio 1 & Radio Scotland and writes a weekly newspaper column on music.
  • Mark Rickards : A Senior Producer with BBC Scotland with special responsibility for World Service, whose career path has taken him through TV to specialise in radio.
  • Elizabeth Clark: Head of BBC Radio Scotland ’s internet radio offering The Zones. Her 15 year BBC Radio career has seen her produce speech and music documentaries for Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4 and Radio Scotland, as well as launching BBC Radio Pudsey in 2007.

10.30am - Get Motivated to Get that Job!

How can you ensure you feel confident and good about yourself and are self motivated in marketing "Brand You"? This practical and participative workshop will cover self awareness, being yourself, being interesting, being positive and being interested.

11.45am - Interview Techniques

Delivered by the University of Glasgow Careers Service, this seminar will help you with what to expect at an interview, how to prepare yourself and how to market yourself effectively.

We will consider: the purpose of the interview, types of interview, what might happen on the day and questions you could ask to complete the interview effectively.

1.00pm - Job Seeking in the UK and in China

Jim Campbell, International Careers Adviser at the University of Glasgow will offer tips on how to identify graduate job opportunities in the UK , how to ensure that your job seeking strategy is effective and how to develop the skills and knowledge which will strengthen your applications. This input will be especially useful for international students.

Dora Long, Virtual Careers Fair Events Officer at the University of Glasgow, will explain how you can access job opportunities in China via the next Virtual Careers in China Fair which is scheduled to take place in October 2010.

2 .00pm - Killer CVs

Delivered by the University of Glasgow Careers Service , this seminar will ensure that your CV is on the top of the pile! 

By the end of the seminar you will know what a CV should contain; be able to target your CV to particular employers and jobs and know how to write an effective covering letter.
