IAESTE
Work Experience for Technical Students
The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience, or IAESTE, is a student exchange programme with over 80 member countries worldwide. Since it was founded at Imperial College London in 1948, IAESTE has exchanged more than 330,000 students, often as the first step in their international careers.

Much has been made of the need for students to gain relevant work experience before they graduate. IAESTE not only provides internship experience but also the valuable experience of working abroad. Work experience gained abroad enhances your independence and flexibility, communication and foreign language skills, and contributes to your personal and academic development. Teach First
Teach First is an independent charity aimed at addressing one of the UK’s most damaging social issues – educational disadvantage. We recruit exceptional graduates and experienced professionals into a two-year leadership development programme during which they become inspirational classroom teachers in schools facing challenging circumstances across England. The Institute of Physics in Scotland
The Institute of Physics in Scotland is a scientific membership organisation devoted to increasing the understanding and application of physics. It has nearly 3000 members and is part of the Institute of Physics.
The Institute of Physics in Scotland aims to promote the role of physics in education, health, the environment, technology, and scientific literacy. The Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA)
The Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA) is an alliance of the Physics departments of eight major Scottish universities, four of which were ranked 20 or above in the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). The activities of SUPA are categorised into three many areas - Research, Knowledge Transfer (KT) and education and training through the SUPA Graduate School.

Graduate School
The SUPA Graduate School offers world-leading education and training in post-graduate physics studies and generic skills. The physics studies are grouped by theme (Astronomy & Space, Condensed Matter & Material Physics, Energy, Nuclear & Plasma, Particle Physics, Photonics, and Physics & Life Sciences), and courses are given by videoconferenced lectures, through the My.SUPA e-learning portal, by tutorials/hands-on-sessions/labs and by residential sessions.
Every year, SUPA runs a Prize Studentship competition. The SUPA Prize Studentships are prestigious and competitive awards intended to attract outstanding physics students from around the world, irrespective of nationality, to study for a PhD in Scotland. Up to fifteen awards will be available this year for outstanding candidates. The studentships provide support for tuition fees, a stipend and a travel grant for a three-and-a-half-year period.
The Society of Biology
The Society of Biology is a single unified voice for biology: advising Government and influencing policy; advancing education and professional development; supporting its members, and engaging and encouraging public interest in the life sciences. Members include practising scientists, students at all levels, professionals in academia, industry and education, and non-professionals with an interest in biology. With an effective membership of over 80,000, the Society is uniquely placed to represent the wider bioscience community and serve the public interest. The Society promotes biology as a subject of choice to students in schools, colleges and universities by supporting and recognising excellence in biology teaching; championing a biology curriculum that challenges students and encourages their passion for biology; supporting young scientists through higher education, and providing career guidance at all levels.
