Why participate in the virtual careers fair?
This event provides a way of exploring career opportunities in Greater China and South East Asia and applying for job vacancies and internships without the expense of an overseas trip. The target countries are China (Hong Kong), Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore. Each employer taking part is specifically interested in the added value provided by a UK education. Participation is FREE OF CHARGE.
What are virtual careers fairs?
Virtual fairs take place on a web-based platform upon which are gathered a number of software tools. Using these tools allows students to:
- Access information on employers and their job opportunities
- Participate in live text-based chats with employers each day
- Seek advice from professional careers advisers
- Submit online applications for opportunities in Greater China and South East Asia
Who is this for?
This Virtual Careers Fair is for all students and graduates of universities in the UK seeking employment in Greater China and South East Asia.
Which employers will participate in this virtual fair?
A wide range of employers will participate across all of the target countries, examples include Accenture, Atkins, Arup, AXA, British Embassy, China Daily, Deloitte, HP, IBM, Intel, Joy Mining Machinery, KPMG, LehmanBrown, Neusoft, PWC, Randox, Sodexo, Shell, SonyEricsson and Standard Chartered.
Background information
With Scottish Government funding, the Scottish branch of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS), a representative organisation for all university careers services in the UK, is delivering a series of annual virtual international careers fairs to support students and graduates educated in Scotland to find employment opportunities in Asia, particularly in China (Hong Kong), Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan. The project team has now also been allocated some PMI2 funding through AGCAS in order to open the Greater China and South East Asia event to students and graduates from all universities in the UK
