Graduated with an Arts Degree from Glasgow University, then completed the Diploma in Careers Guidance at Napier University. After several years working in local careers services in Cleveland and Lanarkshire, moved into the HE sector. Previously Director of the Student Advisory Service at Paisley University, before taking up post at Glasgow.

Graduated with an Arts degree from University of Ulster. After a year in administration, studied for the Diploma in Careers Guidance at Strathclyde before working as a Careers Adviser in secondary schools and with young unemployed people in Lanarkshire and Glasgow. Developed a strong interest in working in Higher Education and moved to Glasgow University Careers Service.

Vanessa Fernandes BMS, MBA
Survey Project Officer
Graduated with distinction in management studies and major in finance and econometrics from the University of Mumbai, India. Following which worked in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector in the Middle East and Asia for a number of years. Continued further study in 2008 by joining the Masters of Business Administration programme at University of Glasgow, during which completed an internship at the careers service researching graduate destinations of international students. Currently administers the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey in addition to developing and administering user feedback surveys relevant to the Careers Services and other Student Services

Following a Sociology and History degree from Glasgow Caledonian University, worked in Youth Work in Lanarkshire. Moved south and undertook the Diploma in Careers Guidance at Nottingham Trent University. Spent a year as a careers adviser in schools and FE in Birmingham before moving on to New College Nottingham for 3 years. Moved back to Scotland and into Higher Education guidance with a brief stint at Queen Margaret University College followed by 3 years at the University of Edinburgh. After 10 years away, finally moved back to the west and to Glasgow University to a specialist careers role developing and delivering a service to Researcher Students and Staff.

Over 20 years experience in PA roles, office management, finance & administration. Experience has been gained in a wide variety of business sectors including banking, industrial, voluntary sector & media. Graduated from Glasgow University in History of Art before moving into visitor services and research at Glasgow School of Art. Joined Student Loan Company as Financial Adviser to outside agencies, going from there to Glasgow Caledonian University as Placement Co-ordinator for Department of Physiotherapy. Now developing relevant experience in a managerial role in the Club 21 Project.

Graduated from Buckinghamshire University with a Business degree then worked as a Marketing Administrator before travelling the world. On return worked as a Sales Support Administrator then moved to London working as an Account Executive for a Direct Marketing company. In 2004 moved to Glasgow becoming an Event Manager for a publishing company. January 2007 joined University of Glasgow Careers Service as an Events Manager.

Following the completion of an MA (Hons) Business Studies degree at Edinburgh University spent several years in London as the Senior Recruitment Executive on the CIPD's offical publication People Management. Then headed 'Down Under' where she took up the position of Events and Sponsorship Executive with a leading Perth newspaper. Later sponsored as Events Executive by Marriner Theatre Events in Melbourne before joining the University of Glasgow Careers Service as Events Manager.

After several years working in local careers services, TVEI in Greenock and London Central Careers Unit, moved into HE. Previously Head of Careers at Goldsmiths College and UCL before joining Glasgow as a Careers Adviser.

Graduated in Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde. After a year in administration returned to Strathclyde to study the Diploma in Careers Guidance. Worked in local authority Careers Services for many years until entering HE in 1999 to set up new services for students at Crichton Campus, Dumfries. Janice became Team Leader for Student Services at Crichton Campus in 2003 and recently graduated from Napier University with an MSc in Careers Guidance for Clients with Special Needs.

Graduated with a degree in Psychology, then completed a PhD in Developmental Psychology and an MSc in Education at Strathclyde University. Also has vocational qualifications in guidance, and training and development. Joined Royal National Institute of the Blind as a Student Adviser and worked for many years with education providers, school pupils and students. Published widely on disability and access issues. Worked as a consultant to a social inclusion partnership in Nottingham and as a Careers Adviser at Strathclyde University before joining Glasgow University Careers Service.

Completed Land Economy degree at Aberdeen University and worked as a Chartered Surveyor in Glasgow before going to Strathclyde University to study for a postgraduate course in Office Management. Moved into Human Resources with an investment services company in a recruitment and training role, before taking up the opportunity to work as a Careers Adviser at Glasgow University.

After some years working with local Careers Services, moved into Higher Education careers work.

Graduated with a MA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Glasgow in 2008. Spent the following year in a representative role as Vice President (Learning and Development) at the Glasgow University Students’ Representative Council. Subsequently joined the University of Glasgow’s Learning and Teaching Centre in a fixed term appointment as a research assistant attached to the work of the institution’s graduate attributes project. Following the development of the University’s revised graduate attributes model, joined the Careers Service as Project Officer (Graduate Attributes) for a year before assuming current role.
