Information Centre...Where do I begin

Career Planning

Thinking about what you want to do as a career involves considering your ideas in a number of ways. You may wish to think about what you enjoy or perhaps something related to your degree discipline. Using the Information  Resource Centre (IRC) to research your ideas can help you to make the right decisions.  The IRC is located to the right of the Service Desk in the Fraser Building.  The Centre offers information files, student computers and a reference bookshelf of careers related material. 

There is also lots of take away material such as graduate directories and casebooks about specific career areas.

The new Top 100 has been compiled from face-to-face interviews with 16,114 graduates, who left UK universities in the summer of  2010 who were asked the open ended question "Which employer do you think offers the best opportunities for graduates?".
For a record seventh year running PricewaterhouseCoopers, the accounting and professional services firm, has been voted the country's leading graduate employer, ahead of Deloitte and the Civil Service.

The highest climbers in 2010 are led by Asda, Lidl and Grant Thornton and there are a total of eleven new entries including Saatchi & Saatchi, Balfour Beatty and Centrica

Divided into 14 industry sections, each section includes industry specific graduate employers large and small showcasing their opportunities for 2011.  Combined with expert careers advice and guidance.

  • Strategies for making the most of work experience.If you want to investigate other resources you can use, or just have a general chat about where to start, a member of staff will be available between 2.00 - 4.00pm each day..  However, the resources are available for you 9.00am - 5.00pm.
