Benefits to Employers

Scotland's universities rank among the best in the world and are renowned for the high calibre of their graduates.  They have a vital role to play in the Scottish Government's objective of creating an economy whose growth rate matches that of the UK by 2011.  It has never been more important for Scottish graduates to be able to demonstrate how the skills and knowledge which they have developed during their time at university have equipped them to be effective in the workplace and to be successful in their chosen career.

The University of Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of St Andrews have formed a partnership which, through a £1.2 million grant, is undertaking the challenge of developing and supporting work related learning opportunities for undergraduates in those disciplines which often lack a clear path into the 'world of work'.  The experience gained through participation in these activities will help to ensure that when these students graduate they will be better prepared to contribute towards a rich and vibrant Scottish economy and to further enhance the reputation of Scottish graduates.
