Shelf cleaning

A clean repository is essential in ensuring the long-term preservation of our collections.  A programme of shelf cleaning is constantly in progress.  Working in twos, staff systematically works through the repository, cleaning the shelving units and the boxes and volumes stored on them to remove dust and debris.  Specialist vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters are used, and staff wears appropriate personal protective equipment.
