Duncan Stewart & Co Ltd was an engineering and sugar machinery manufacturing company in Bridgeton, Glasgow. This is a page from a Duncan Stewart & Co Ltd brochure and shows equipment supplied to Demerara Sugar Company in British Guiana (now Guyana) as well as the Jamaica Sugar Estates in Jamaica, c1960.

Andrew Watson is a football legend. He was born in 1857 in Georgetown, Guyana, the son of Guyanan, and a Scottish sugar merchant. In November 1875, at the age of 19, he enrolled at the University of Glasgow to study philosophy, mathematics and engineering. |
