Celebrating 150 years of veterinary excellence 1862-2012
The year 2012 will mark the 150th anniversary of the University of Glasgow's School of Veterinary Medicine which was founded in 1862 by James McCall. Plans are already underway to mark this anniversary with a year-long integrated campaign to both honour the past and look forward to ongoing success in the future. Events will be occurring throughout 2012 targeted at the general public, veterinary surgeons and nurses, staff and students, friends and our vet alumni.
The focal point of our celebrations is the 'Vet150 Congress', a celebratory CPD weekend taking place on 5 - 7 October 2012. The event will launch with a 'New Horizons' programme and the McCall Memorial Lecture on Friday 5 October followed on Saturday 6 October with a three streamed CPD lecture programme (small animal, equine and farm animal) and a commercial exhibition. On Sunday 7 October there will be an interactive modular programme.
The social programme includes a drinks reception on Friday 5 October, and a Gala Banquet and Ceilidh on Saturday 6 October. These events are open to all our vet alumni and friends of the vet school and an ideal opportunity to catch up with classmates and friends while celebrating the School's 150th Anniversary. The Vet150 Congress will conclude with brunch on Sunday and tours of the Vet School.
