Prizes

The Graduate Prize Committee will make recommendations to the Head of School for the following prizes:

  1. The Hunter Prize/Cumming Bequestis awarded to a first year student submitting the best first year report.
    • The committee will consider both the content and the presentation, noting the guidelines for first year reports.
  2. Thomson Prizes. Normally 3 of these are available each year. They are awarded for research achievement. All students are eligible for these prizes, but they are normally awarded to students who have completed 2 years of research. Supervisors should make written nominations to Professor Craven for the Prize Committee by September 30th 2012. In considering the nominations, the committee will give considerable weight to the content and presentation of the second year report. In addition, the committee may choose to interview some or all of the nominated candidates to help them reach a decision. This interview would be based on the material presented in the 2nd year report.
    • The committee will make recommendations to the Head of School by the end of November. Members of the Prize Committee for the coming session are Prof. A J Craven (convenor), Dr R. St-Denis and Dr B. Seitz.
