Research interests:

Dr Karen Benavente received her PhD at Harvard University and her undergraduate degree from Stanford. Her present research focuses primarily poetry and poetics in Luso-Hispanic Studies. She has written on Jorge Luis Borges, Maria Zambrano, Gabriela Mistral, Cecilia Meireles, and Walter Hugo Khouri. Dr Benavente has supervised international PhD students and welcomes proposals. She is the Programme Director of Portuguese Studies.
