Research interests:
Dr Karen Peña received her Ph.D. at Harvard University and her undergraduate degree from Stanford. Her present research focuses primarily on Latin American and Brazilian poetry from the early 20th century onwards. She has written on Gabriela Mistral (Chile), Cecília Meireles (Brazil) and Rosario Castellanos (Mexico). She is completing two monographs: one on the poetry of Jorge Luis Borges and the other on the correspondence among Mistral and her female contemporaries (among them the poets Carmen Conde and Henriqueta Lisboa). Dr Peña has supervised international MPhil students and welcomes proposals.
