Alan Bennie has been teaching medical students in practice continuously since 1986, and has been a Senior Tutor in General Practice since 1995. In November 2010, he retired from his practice in Bishopton, where he helped to establish the model of the Intensive Teaching Practice.

He is Lead Tutor in Year 2 Vocational Studies, and is a member of the Vocational Studies Working Group. He leads GP tutor training and for the last few years has been the organiser of the TALE Conference (Teaching and Learning Event). He is an Adviser of Studies.
