Simulated patients

Volunteers wanted to work with medical students

The School of Medicine is looking for volunteers to act as 'simulated patients' to help medical students develop their bedside skills.

As a 'simulated patient', you are asked to consult with medical students using a technique known as 'role play' - where you are given a role to act out that will help the medical student practise their consultation technique.

  • What is a simulated patient?
  • Why do we need simulated patients?
  • What will I be expected to do?
  • What sort of role will I be expected to do?
  • What training will I get and how often will I be needed?
  • Will I be paid?
  • What benefit is there to me?
