About Us

The Nursing & Health Care School is committed to evidence based practice and research that enhances patient care and service delivery and which underpins our teaching. Our research activity is multi-professional, patient-centred and collaborative and sits mainly within the themes of Cancer (including Lymphoedema) and care and Symptom Management. There is an active post-graduate research community and offers MSc (Research) and PhD programmes on a full or part time basis.

At undergraduate level we offer both an Honours (4 years) and Ordinary Degree (3 years), leading to Registration in Nursing. The programme is 1st for Nursing in the UK (Adult Nursing programmes NSS 2012) and 2nd for Nursing (all nursing programmes - NSS 2012 / Guardian Good University Guide 2012/ Times Higher Good University Guide 2013). We have access to excellent facilities and a wide range of world renowned experts in their subjects. A strong science component, integrated with caring and leadership skills and strongly underpinned by research is a unique feature of our programme. We have excellent relationships with clinical staff across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde where students have clinical placements.

The School offers a flexible programme of multi-professional postgraduate courses that may be taken individually or towards a postgraduate certificate, diploma or masters degree. The MSc in Health Care programme is designed to develop the knowledge and skills required to lead advances in patient care and service delivery. Awards in various specialist fields are available, including the unique Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Chaplaincy. Multi-professional Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses are offered in Lymphoedema and Burns and Plastic Surgery Care and attract participants from across the UK.
