About the School

The School of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications from well-qualified students to carry out research leading to a PhD or MSc in Statistics or Pure or Applied Mathematics. We also offer a number of postgraduate taught degrees.

The School attracts students from the UK and abroad. We have been pleased to welcome students from countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Colombia, Germany, Greece, India, Iran, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Spain, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and the USA.

With nearly 70 full time academic staff, the School is one of the largest in the UK, boasts world-class groups in several areas, and offers opportunities for research in:

Members of the School are involved in many collaborations with researchers overseas. This international dimension of the work of the School is continually developing and results in many overseas visitors spending periods of time in Glasgow. There is a lively seminar programme with members of the School being involved in a number of research neworks.
