EPSRC Postdoctoral Research Associate vacancy now available

Monday 5th November, 2018

Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Associate on the EPSRC Programme Grant "Enhancing Representation Theory, Noncommutative Algebra and Geometry through Moduli, Stability and Deformations". This post is available from 1st September 2019, or a mutually agreed date, for a 36 months fixed term contract. A further post will very shortly be advertised at the University of Edinburgh. Candidates are encouraged to apply for both, and indeed they must do so if they wish to be considered for both positions.

This project combines the expertise of Arend Bayer, Tom Bridgeland, Iain Gordon, Agata Smoktunowicz and Michael Wemyss across algebraic geometry, noncommutative algebra and representation theory, to develop common methodology and to answer a variety of questions in each topic. More details of the project are available from the website http://hodge.maths.ed.ac.uk/tiki/enhancing as well as http://gow.epsrc.ac.uk/NGBOViewGrant.aspx?GrantRef=EP/R034826/1

In becoming part of the team of over 50 people researching across the full breadth of algebra and geometry at the Universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Sheffield, the post-holder will also be encouraged to pursue their own, and newly arising, research questions. In addition, the position comes with the opportunity for extended visits to our international partners.

The School of Mathematics and Statistics has a very active and diverse range of research activity, which encompasses a range of applied and pure mathematics and modern statistics. More information about our thriving and growing group in Glasgow, where the candidate will be based, can be found at the https://www.maths.gla.ac.uk/core/Welcome Core Structures website.

All applications must be submitted online at https://www.gla.ac.uk/it/iframe/jobs/ (Vacancy Ref: E20367) . Please enclose with your application your combined CV and research statement as a single pdf. The closing date for receipt of applications is 3rd January 2019.

Informal enquiries are encouraged; please contact Michael Wemyss by email: michael.wemyss@glasgow.ac.uk.
