Distinguished Lecturer Series - Professor Peter Boyle

The School hosted a visit from Professor Peter Boyle, as part of our distinguished lecturer series, on Tuesday 23rd January. Peter is a graduate in Statistics from the University of Glasgow and then completed a PhD from Glasgow.

He is currently President of the International Prevention Research Institute, Lyon, France following immediately on his tenure as Director of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC/WHO). From 1991-2004 he was Director of the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Institute of Oncology in Milan, Italy. Prior to that he help posts as Senior Scientist at IARC, Assistant Professor in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Harvard School of Public Health and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Boston, United States), the West of Scotland Cancer Surveillance Unit (Glasgow, United Kingdom) and the Department of Medicine at Glasgow University. In 2017, he was awarded a Royal Medal of the Royal Society if Edinburgh.
