Research Assistant / Associate

The University of Glasgow invites applications for a position of Research Assistant or Research Associate in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. You will be working with Dr. Alex Bartel on EPSRC funded project “Cohen-Lenstra heuristics, Brauer relations, and low-dimensional manifolds”. You should have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, and expertise in one or several of the following research areas of Pure Mathematics: Arithmetic of Number Fields, Arithmetic Statistics, the Cohen-Lenstra Heuristics, Arithmetic Geometry and Arithmetic of Elliptic Curves, Additive Combinatorics, Representation Theory of Finite Groups. For the post of Research Associate you should also have a track record of publications in internationally recognised journals in one or several of the above areas.

This position is funded for at least three years. You will join an active, diverse, and rapidly growing Pure Mathematics Group. You will have access to excellent computing facilities, and to a generous allowance for travel and personal technical equipment. This is primarily a research position, but you will receive support of career development by being given the opportunity to give lecture courses, to supervise undergraduate projects, and to get involved in outreach activities.

Salary Range: £28,098 - £31,604 / £34,520 - £38,833 per annum
