We would like to take the opportunity to congratulate our prize winners from academic year 2014-15 who are as follows: 

Graduating Prizes

The SAS prize for best Level M project was awarded to Lida Mavrogonatou.

The Dougall Prizes were founded in 1928 by Charles Shirra Dougall, MA 1894, in "grateful recognition of the encouragement received by the award of the Eglinton Scholarship in 1894". They are awarded annually to the most distinguished students in the Ordinary class of Mathematics. This year, the Dougall prize was awarded to Alexander Forbes for Level 5 and Dawid Bernaciak and Remus Stana for Level 4.

Founded in 1991 by Ede and Ravenscroft, robe makers to the University, and awarded annually to the most distinguished Science graduates of the year. The Ede and Ravenscroft award from the College was presented to Eamon Quinlan.

Archibald and Janet R McAulay Memorial Prizes were founded in 1980 by the gift of Mr AH McAulay, MA, BSc 1925, FSA, of New York, in memory of his parents. The Archibald McAulay Memorial Prize is awarded for distinction in the honours examination in Physics, and the Janet R McAulay Memorial Prize is awarded for distinction in the honours examination in Mathematics. This year the, Janet R McAulay Memorial Prize was awarded to Eamon Quinlan.

The PSI prize for best honours project in Statistics was awarded to Fiona Christie.

The Royal Bank of Scotland prize for best student in Financial Statistics was awarded to Erika Scauzilli.

The Shell Prize, for best overall fourth year student in Statistics was awarded to Marco Palma. 

Werner Weiglhofer died in January 2003 in an avalanche on the slopes of Bispen, in the Romsdal Alps in Norway, while snow-shoeing. The Department of Mathematics set up a fund in his memory, to provide an annual prize in his name for the best Honours project. This year, the Weiglhofer prize was awarded to Ruth Uprichard for Level 5 and Dawid Bernaciak, Joseph Maccoll and Dylan Madden for Level 4.

Undergraduate Prizes

Level 3

The Dougall Prize was also awarded to the following students in Level 3 - Martin van Beek, Marc Dinardo, Jill Naismith and Stefani Sherbanova. 

The SAS prize in Statistics, awarded annually to the best mark on the best performance in level 3, was recevied by Yinxiang Wu.

The Cunninghame Medal and Prize was founded in 1866 by Andrew Cunninghame, Town Clerk Depute of Glasgow. It is awarded annually to the most distinguished student in the Advanced Honours class of Mathematics. This year it was recevied by Vitalijs Brejevs.

The Professor Patrick Lamont prize was also awared to Vitalijs Brejevs, for the best Writing and Presenting Mathematics project.

The Lang Scholarship awarded annually, on the recommendation of Heads of School, was awarded to Pham Ngoc.

Level 2

The Dougall prize was also awared to the following students in Level 2 - Oliver Allen, Andrew Beckett, Dominic Brass, Sebastiano Cultrera Di Montesano, Anya Ferguson, Thomas Fletcher, Rachael Nicol, Ionut Paun, David Santamaria Legarda, Petre Stegaroiu, Theodora Torcea and Catriona Wedderburn.  

The Ford-Forrest Bursaries were founded in 1989 by the bequest of Helen M Forrest, MA 1927. One bursary is awarded to the woman student obtaining the highest-class marks for her year in the Higher Ordinary Mathematics class and one to the woman student obtaining the highest-class marks for her year in the Physics 2(A) class. This year, it was awarded to Theodora Torcea.

Founded in 1902, the Lanfine Bursary in Mathematics is awarded biannually, on the recommendation of the Head of School, to students studying Mathematics. This year, it was awarded to Andrew Beckett and Sebastiano Cultrera Di Montesano.   

M Muir prize - Ionut Paun

Awarded annually to the best overall student in Statistics Level 2, the SD Silvey prize was awarded to Ionut Paunand Keri Slater.

Class 1R/1S

The Dougall prize was also awared to the following students in class 1R/1S - Paul Frisby, Teodora Moiseanu, Sarah Paterson and Hector Spencer-Wood.

The Lorimer prize was awarded to Maxence Corman and Panagiotis Stylianou.   

The M Muir prize was awarded to George Gerogiannis and Theodora Nearchou.

Class 1X/1Y

The Dougall prize was also awared to the following students in class 1X/1Y - Jennifer Harkin and Emma Wilson.

The Lorimer prize was awarded to Natalia Garcia Martin and Rhys Wells.

The M Muir prize was awarded to Julien Putz.

Class S1Y/Z

The John Aitchison prize for best overall performance in Statistics 1Y/Z was awarded to Pablo Arteaga Glez-Palenzuela and Natalia Garcia Martin.
