Abstract

I will try to illustrate (a small part of) the intriguing relationship between derived categories and birational geometry. In particular, I will show show you some examples of 'hidden symmetries' and then explain how they decompose into geometrically meaningful equivalences coming from birational geometry. If time permits then I will speculate as to how these examples might fit into the 'bigger picture'.
