Abstract
Given a measure on the real numbers, we can associate a sequence of positive real numbers. Stieltjes called this sequence "the sequence of moments". It is an old question when a sequence of positive real numbers is the sequence of moments for some measure. In this talk, we will review this problem and its solution.
