Environmental Statistics and data analytics training

Monday 24th-Saturday 29th August, 2015 Lab 110, Mathematics Building

Description

The proposed training covers statistics, risk, and uncertainty and will provide specialised training and practical experience using R in statistical modelling including managing and manipulating large data sets, data visualisation, understanding the power and limitations of statistical methodologies and data and information management.

The course provides core training in statistical theory, modelling and computation, including managing and manipulating large and diverse data structures using the statistical software R. The range of topics covered including trend analysis and time series models, modern adaptive regression, spatial modelling, modelling extremes and Bayesian methods.  New modules introduced in this training week include handling large data frames from earth observation and environmental sensors, and quality assurance approaches for dealing with missing data, anomaly identification (data profiling) and visualisation."
