Quantum symmetric pairs and universal solutions of the reflection equation

Abstract
In this talk I will remind the audience of a construction of a quantum group analogue of symmetric pairs, and show how the coideal subalgebras arising from this construction can be used to produce a universal solution of the reflection equation for the corresponding quantum group. The construction mirrors the construction of the R-matrix for quantum groups. This is work in progress, joint with Stefan Kolb.
