Abstract
In this talk I will discuss some new noncommutative structures called maximal modification algebras (MMAs), invented to help understand some parts of the minimal model program in dimension 3. I will present some of the properties of MMAs, and will explain why we care by linking to the geometry. This talk is based on joint work with Iyama.
